Isolation Education Station

Posted in: News

The Easter holidays provided some time off for children, but also a little respite for parents who have been homeschooling.

Home education has been tough for everyone, particularly for those parents with no teaching experience and those who are working from home. It’s a juggling act, and while the temptation is to let your kids become experts in Tik Tok, we know that it important for their education and mental wellbeing to keep to some of learning routine.

Over recent weeks more and more orgainisations have released online resources to help ease the pressure a little – and we’ve rounded up our favourites.

BBC

The BBC launched their Bitesize daily broadcasts from 9am to 11am on BBC Red Button, also making it available after on BBC iPlayer.

This gives both primary and secondary age children “bitesize” 20 minutes lessons presented by trained teachers, as well as some well-known celebrity faces. They’ve even compiled a schedule to help plan the week.

Well done BBC, we think you’ve done a great job!

Penguin Books

Penguin have put together activity packs based on children’s age groups.

If your kids love to read, then this is perfect for them. From word searches to creating literary bunting and writing your own murder mystery story, the range of activities available should keep the little ones entertained for a while.

RSPB

The silver lining is that we are blessed with great weather – so make the most of it and get outside with the children and do some nature activities.

The RSPB have created a personalised plan based on your postcode to give you 6 activities to help give nature a home where you live.

There are some things that just can’t be taught in a classroom – and what’s better than experiencing nature in real life?
